The Illness Outbreak of the Porcine Nature...

So it seems every where I look someone is panicking about the Swine Flu Pandemic - run scared - ahhhh. But seriously everything I hear from official channels says that this is no worse than any other seasonal flu, has no more risk for damage. We aren't talking about an outbreak of Typhoid here - it's the flu. It sucks BUT if you take reasonable care - stay home and don't spread it - go the doctor if you have sever symptoms - you'll likely weather this just like the last case of flu. Maybe a few pounds lighter, a bit weaker, and much paler BUT you'll be fine.

From what I read only those who are already weakened from other illnesses and the elderly and very young need be concered (as is the case with any flu). And since my husband's immune system is far from normal if I start to show signs I think I'll check into a hotel to keep him safe. But me? I'm not worried about me.

So I refuse to freak out and start wearing masks like freaky Michael Jackson. I definitely don't want to catch it and a nice new bottle of purell sits on my desk for appropriate times, but I'm not worried.

There must be a far more virulent strain of this flu where you are.

Where I live there aren't any sever symptoms. No one I know required any amputations for the flu.

Hehe - I love a good well-placed typo.

Seriously, I agree, it is being overhyped.

Common sense PLUS is going on here. The plus is because my hubby's heart, liver and kidneys are compromised and ANY illness is dangerous for him. Our pluses are sanitizer, I've stocked up on groceries to minimize trips to the store (more trips, the more I expose myself and therefore him) ... mostly stuff like we'd do for hurricane season here in FL -- being prepared just in case...

Still nothing nuts....

A-freaking-men.

My littlest kid has a whole slew of health issues, so I do worry a tiny bit for him-- that one of the older kids will bring it home and he'll catch it. But, again, I feel like the media is playing on my motherly concerns for my special needs kiddo. I mean, really. The widespread panic is INSANE! My entire town ran out of hand sanitizer. It's almost funny. I mean, yeah, it would suck to get it. Just like any other flu... Not fun, but worthy of all the panic? Um, no!
