How can I miss you if you won't go away?

I'm getting a much needed chance to miss my husband this week. I can't help but think it will be good for us. Lately we have been bickering more than usual and tiny little disagreements turn into big screaming knock down drag out's. Things that I would normally just let slide just stick in my craw and I can't seem to just ignore them. My stress level is at an all time high and I spend far too much time either seething or crying.

The timing couldn't be more perfect for my husband to go to western PA to visit his family. He will be staying with his aunt who is there on spring break from school (she's a teacher) and spending plenty of time with his other aunt and uncle and his cousins who live in this small town.

I will be plenty worried about him tomorrow as he drives the 400 miles to get there BUT once he is there he plans to stay for about 5-6 days and friends I cannot tell you how happy I am to have a week of blissful time to myself. I have a list of things I want to get done, recipes I want to try (things he wouldn't eat anyway) and I plan to get to bed early every night.

By the time he comes back home in a week I may actually be happy to see him. Sometimes a short break and time to actually miss the ones we love is just what the doctor ordered.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder. Marriage is not easy and sometimes we all need breaks. Know that others are going through similar things!

Oh I definitely agree. we me being unemployed at the moment I am home way too much with him. I try to make up reasons for him to leave the house so I can have a few stolen moments to myself. enjoy your time.

Ohh, that sounds like an awesome week and I'm jealous, but in about 25 days, I'll have 19 weeks to miss my husband as he goes off to Natl Guard boot camp and training and BELIEVE ME, I will need the entire 19 weeks!

I told him that I would miss him as he was getting ready to leave this morning and he said "don't make me feel guilty". I had to laugh - I explained that he should be glad I'm going to miss him and upset if I said "good riddance, get lost". :) I told him to have a nice time and to say hello to everyone for me and to please call me along the way periodically.

So the vacation begins!

Sometimes the best vacations are the ones where you're the one staying :) Enjoy the time alone.

A nice, warm soak, a few candles, soothing music, a bottle of wine, and a good book...these are a few things to set the scene to reconnect with yourself and remember who YOU are.

Yes, absence makes the heart grow fonder...unless that is the absence of "self". Then, the heart grows weak...

You suck -- no, not really, I'm just jealous! I have not had any time alone in my house since my husband became disabled -- FOURTEEN YEARS AGO.

He can't get out without me so we are ALWAYS together (unless I'm running the kids hither and yon of course).

Enjoy your time!

MH is talking about a two or three day hiking trip- WITH the dog. Complete and Utter Freedom! I love him deeply, but I immediately started making a list in my head of how to pass the time... ;)
