Thirteen reasons why turning 38 doesn't totally suck balls...

Yes dear internet friends today is my birthday - the day I entered this world screaming and probably haven't shut up for a minute since! June 12, 1970 was the day - 6am was the time!

So in honor of my turning 38 today here are 13 reasons why it doesn't totally suck:

  1. At least I'm not turning 40

  2. The alternative sucks (dying before reaching 38)

  3. I still look like I might be under 30 (on a good day)

  4. I no longer feel totally insecure in every situation

  5. I no longer care what everyone thinks of me and jump through hoops to please them

  6. It's okay to not have a bikini bod at this age (versus 25 when it just sucked)

  7. Being appreciated more for your mind than your boobs

  8. I don't have to go out and get totally wasted tonight to have a good time

  9. I have great friends who make getting older a fun journey

  10. I'm not single and lamenting another year without someone special in my life

  11. I know what I want and for the most part how to get it

  12. Going to your 20th high school reunion knowing you are by far the most educated and successful of your former classmates is kinda sweet (I hope -2 weeks from now)

  13. I know I said it before but it bears repeating - at least I'm not turning 40!
And here is a gratuitous cute shot of what I looked like about 35 years ago:

Too early in the morning for me to be gasping for air over the title of this blog post!!! "suck balls"?!?!? OMG...I've heard a lot (and said a lot), but that's a new one for me...LMAO

I'd do my version of Marilyn Monroe singing "Happy Birthday" to JFK, but it's really a VISUAL experience so...HAPPY BIRTHDAY anyway! And may you never "suck balls" over any birthday in the future...

Hey Linda - glad to give you a laugh. You would be gasping for breath if you were sucking balls too so now you know how it goes.

Sorry to bash those of you facing 40 this year, I'm dreading that horribly for some reason, seems like the official crossing over into OLD for me. Not for anyone else, just for me.

Happy Birthday! :)

I guess now would not be the time to whine about staring down the freight train that is turning 30, huh?

Definitely no wining about turning 30! :) My life just started taking off as I was turning 30!

Awww, what a cute little girl you were! And Happy Birthday!!! Don't worry, all of the good things about getting older only get better and richer - and you can still have a bikini body, I do at 42. ;-) Of course, I've spent my whole life wanting to be older, so I genuinely never "got" people dreading 30, 40, etc. The forties are great. You really are only as old as you feel!

HEY HEY HEY!!!
I was off Friday and haven't been on much so I just saw this.
Happy Belated Birthday!
We are exactly two months and six days apart; I turned 38 on 4/6.

I was just talking to someone older about how I like being almost 40, because I'm starting to realize that a lot of what I got twisted up about when I was younger was so much BS. She said, "Wait until you turn 50. It gets even better!!"

And I have to ask the question, what do ya need a beach body FOR? Ya gots the man, and the tan is bad for you, and you can sit in a comfy chair reading trashy novels anywhere. So really. Life now is all that minus the sandy chafing.

I don't need a beach body! LOL Will never have a beach body! Would have to cover it in sunscreen anyway. But it would be nice to have a bikini ready body just once! :)
